Black Stars newboy Gideon Mensah helped Zulte Waaregem record an emphatic victory over St Truiden in the Belgian Cup at the Regenboogstadion last night.

A brace from Mexican midfielder Omar Govea and a second strike from forward Bruno Gianni secured a 3-0 win to book a spot for the home side in the quarterfinals of the Belgian Cup.

Mensah, who got his debut for the Black Stars in the recent AFCON qualifiers played 69 minutes for the home side as he continues his development at the Belgian side.

Fellow Ghanaian, Samuel Asamoah, 25, playing in defence lasted the full duration for the losing side.

Zulte Waaregem who occupy the sixth position have amassed 28 points from 17 games and will look forward to adding to their tally when they square off against Gent.
