After 18-long months of ‘no action’ on the domestic scene, the Ghana Football Association’s flagship tournament – Ghana Premier League – was in full flow yesterday with varied results across the nine match day venues.

At the Accra Sports stadium, it was Berekum Chelsea that gave homesters, Accra Hearts of Oak a bitter pill to swallow when they handed the Phobians their first defeat on opening day.

City rivals, Accra Great Olympics were given a rude Awakening to life in the country’s top flight league when Ashgold flogged the Dade Boys 3-0 at the Len Clay stadium.

Veteran striker, Yahaya Mohammed was in beast mode as he single-handedly tore Inter Llies into shreds when he bagged a hattrick in Aduana Stars 4-0 home win.

Medeama announced their intentions for the season with a comfortable 3-1 away win over Ebusua Dwarfs at the Cape Coast sports stadium.

Dreams FC sat at the Theater of Dreams to give King Faisal their worst nightmare on opening day as they walked over the visitors in a 4-1 home win.

Liberty Professionals and Legon Cities FC shared the spoils in a nail-biting four goal thriller at the Carl Reindorf Park.

WAFA also picked an away win over Karela United at their new home base at the Akoon Park.

Bechem United kept a clean sheet and booted with all three points against 10-man Elmina Sharks at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour park.

Title favorites Asante Kotoko scored the fastest goal and the first goal of match day one in their 1-0 win over Techiman Eleven Wonders.
