Experienced goal poacher Yahaya Mohammed has been shortlisted for the NASCO player of the month for January following his goal scoring heroics for Medeama SC.

A total of five players have been shortlisted for the Nasco Premier League Player of the month for January with Zakaria Fuseini and Justice Blay the only non-forwards in the list.

Victorien Adje Adebayor of Inter Allies, Yahaya Mohammed of Aduana Stars, Prince Opoku Agyemang of Tarkwa-based Medeama, hard working midfield general Justice Blay of Asante Kotoko and Zacharia Fuseini of Berekum Chelsea are the five players shortlisted for the individual accolade.

Six matches were played in the month of December and January, with these players giving out strong individual performances which helped their respective teams.

Yahaya Mohammed of Aduana Stars

Veteran attacker, Yahaya Mohammed leads the goal scorers chart with six goals in six games for Aduana Stars coupled with a number of NASCO Man-of-the-match awards.

Prince Opoku Agyemang of Medeama

Deadly Medeama goal poacher Prince Opoku Agyemang mustered a goal against Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and Ashanti Gold SC all in the month of January and follows Yahaya Mohammed with five goals.

Victorien Adebayor trying to beat his marker

Inter Allies marksman Victorien Adebayor enjoyed a wonderful month with five goals – scoring his fifth in the last game played on January 31.

Justice Blay celebrating after his goal

Midfield Kingpin Justice Blay is also in the race for the individual accolade following his superlative performances in the six games played during the period, capping off a memorable month with a goal and a Man-of-the-match award against Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash staged at the Accra Sports stadium last Sunday.

Last and not least is Berekum Chelsea’s version of Virjil Van Dijk, Zakaria Fuseini together with Ahmed Adams have been responsible for the impermeability of the Berekum Chelsea defence, conceding just a goal six games adding a number of Man-of-the-match awards he accumulated in the month.

All the nominees were duly recognised with a number of NASCO Man-of-the-match awards for their brilliant displays in the month.

The winner will be announced before match week 8 of the Premier League next week.

Winner of the individual prize will receive a Nasco television set, a NASCO men’s grooming set and a personalised trophy by NASCO.
