Coach Anthony Edusei, formerly of Asante Kotoko has urged the Ghana Football Association to maintain veteran football brain, Francis Oti Akenteng as the Technical Director.
Oti Akenteng, a veteran tactician who has served in the capacity as Technical Director is set to bring his decade-long spell at the football association to an end this month.
This has seen the country’s football governing body to open applications for the role with known faces such as Bashir Hayford and Mohammed Polo showing interest in replacing Oti Akenteng as the GFA Technical Director.
Names such as FIFA U20 World Cup winner Sellas Tetteh and former Asante Kotoko head coach Mas-ud Didi Dramani have also popped up for the role.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Ashh FM, coach Anthony K. Edusei implored the football association not to look elsewhere.
“As Technical Director we will need a knowledgeable individual to work with. A technical Director will also need a professional Coach to help in training coaches.
“I’m sure the Ghana Football Association have their own criteria for appointing a technical director but for me a technical director must be someone who really understands football and its development.
He argued, “In appointing a technical director, age is a secondly matter.
“For me Oti Akenteng is very experienced than any other coach when it comes to the technical directorate role.
“For me it’s good to maintain Oti Akenteng but maybe Oti Akenteng himself thinks is time to pave way for others to continue.
“As it stand now I don’t know the criteria Ghana football Association will use to appoint its technical director” the CAF instructor wondered.
