Growing rumours of cancelation of the 2019-2020 Ghana Premier League has been debunked by the Administrative Manager of Berekum Chelsea Francis Adjei.
A communique from continental football governing body, CAF, asked member associations to apprise them the fate of their leagues before May 5 with countries such as Kenya and Guinea grabbing the bull by the horn and canceling their domestic season.
In Ghana, there have been growing concerns surrounding the future of the current campaign with most football administrators arguing why the Ghana Football Association should cancel the league season.
However, the Federation has informed the various clubs of their next line of action before a final decision will be made. This was made known by a top brass of top-flight side Berekum Chelsea.
“Clubs raised questions as to whether the league will continue, get truncated or canceled eventhough it wasn’t the case for discussion”
“Leadership told us the decision on the suspended league is not about the Football community only but Ghana as a whole and so have to consult stakeholders and interested parties like Government , Health practitioners etc.” Mr Adjei told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.
“After concluding with stakeholders, they will bring it before the clubs members and a decision will be taken. But there was no decision taken” he concluded.
