Without a shred of doubt, football has become one of the most rewarding professions in the 21st century. The salaries footballers receive can best be described as mouth dropping especially in mainstream Europe, the gulf region and quite recently China.

However, that is not the exact replica in the football-first nation of Ghana. The salaries for players on the domestic scene have been up for discussion in the advent of the novel coronavirus which has rendered the sport inactive since mid-March.

Football clubs have received their fair share of criticism for doling out meagre amount of cash to their employees. But one club that has always received a pat on the back for their excellent player welfare policy – at least for local standard – is none other than the record holders of the Ghana Premier League, Asante Kotoko.

Goalkeeper and skipper, Felix Annan is the highest paid player at the Kumasi-based outfit whiles Douglas Owusu Ansah takes home GHS 500.
