Ghanaian defender Bright Gyamfi has secured Serie A promotion with Italian side Benevento Calcio with seven games to spare.

The Inter Milan academy product missed Benevento’s 1-0 victory over Juve Stabia on Monday night. The narrow victory was enough for The Sorcerers to make a quick return to the top-flight after suffering relegation in the 2017-2018 season (their maiden campaign).

Gyamfi, who joined the club from Inter Milan in 2017 has made only two appearances in all competitions so far this season. Despite his meagre game time, he is deemed an important figure by head coach Filippo Inzaghi – AC Milan legend and brother of Lazio gaffer, Simone Inzaghi.

The Ghanaian was an unused substitute as Benevento defeated Juve Stabia 1-0 courtesy of a second-half goal from Marco Sau – despite playing most of the game with 10 men.

The win moved Benevento moved 24 points ahead of Crotone and Cittadella.
