Record holders of the Ghana Premier League, Asante Kotoko and Obuasi-based Ashgold will represent Ghana in the CAF interclub competitions.

Following the termination of the 2019-2020 football season which was arrived after a marathon meeting by the GFA Executive Council, the football association has settled on the aforementioned clubs to represent the country in Africa.

Asante Kotoko were winners of the Tier I Normalization Committee Special Competition after edging Karela United last year whiles Ashgold clinched the Tier II of the NC Special Competition.

Due to the Anas expose which led to the truncation of the 2018 Ghana Premier League, the novelty Competition was adopted as country’s top flight and knockout Competition.

The above details were confirmed by the GFA Communications Director in an interview with Accra-based media outlet Angel 102.9FM.

“We went back and forth on which clubs will represent Ghana in the inter club competitions. In the end we agreed that Asante Kotoko and Ashgold will represent Ghana in the Champions League and Confederations cup respectively”.
