Basketball players in Ghana particularly those in the nation’s most prestigious league-the Accra Basketball League (ABL) – have missed out on financial packages to alleviate financial pressures associated with the effects of the corona virus pandemic on sports in the nation, According to Basketballghana report.

The package was recently agreed thanks to a signed Memorandum of Understanding between the National Sports Authority (NSA) and Youth Employment Agency (YEA).

This is to relief athletes who continue to miss out on competing due to limitations placed on several sports disciplines by the virus spread.

A handful of representatives from various associations and federations were present at the occasion after playing key roles in hammering out the financial details days prior.

However, in the report by basketball also confirm that there is no representative from the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) or ABL was present or participated in the discussions.

This means no basketball player will receive the 500 Ghana Cedis a month for the next six months as a result; in all, 1000 athletes in football and badminton among others are in line to benefit.
