Ghana’s representatives in the CAF interclub competitions – Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold will stage their various games in the upcoming 2020-2021 competitions behind closed doors.
According to a report filed by Kumasi 104.1 FM, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) held a meeting with the Government Covid-19 advisory team led by Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare on the way forward for clubs representing the country in Africa.
Per the information gathered by the aforementioned media outlet, the president of the land, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo wants Ghana’s representatives (Asante Kotoko and Ashgold) to stage their games behind closed doors as the country contains the novel coronavirus.
Per the president’s last address to the nation on Covid-19, restrictions on contact sports which includes football is still active however the state is ready to allow Asante Kotoko and Ashgold resume training ahead of their various assignments.
The GFA will officially write to these club for their acceptances to participate in the competition or withdraw after knowing when the 2020/21 CAF inter club competitions will begin.
Meanwhile the Ghana FA have pencilled the second week of October as a tentative date for the resumption of football in the country.
