Born in Kumasi to Ghanaian parents and played for popular colts team, Corners Babies before leaving the shores of Ghana to Portugal for pastures anew.

Asumah Abubakar-Ankra, has a Portuguese passport which saw him play for the Portugal U19 side in the 2016 UEFA U19 Championship but yet to make a competitive bow for Portuguese national team.

He was withdrawn from the 2016 UEFA U19 Championship by the European side after making two appearances over eligibility concerns.

The decision to withdraw the pacy winger was over concerns that he might not have satisfied the mandatory two-year continuous Portugal residency requirement that makes him eligible for their passport.

He is still eligible to play for Ghana and his impressive performance for SC Kriens has seen Swiss Super league Clubs FC Sion and FC Zurich have shown interest in him.
