Chartered Sports and Exercise Psychologist, Dr. Patrick Ofori has stressed on the need for the top hierarchy of Asante Kotoko to rank competence first in the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
The Porcupine Warriors have been scanning the terrain for a new CEO since the dissolution of the George Amoako-led management back in June. Nana Yaw Amponsah has been the favorite for the hot seat however his supposed affiliation to arch-rivals Hearts of Oak is proving inimical to his appointment.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich legend Samuel Osei Kuffour is been mooted as the preferred candidate for the CEO role at Asante Kotoko.
However, the eminent Dr Patrick Ofori has urged the record holders of the Ghanaian top flight to overlook mundane issues like club affiliation and consider competence.
“The person to be selected as Kotoko CEO must have the ability to create innovative ways in gaining income, ethically grounded, good human relations with the supporters, also he should be well vexed in administration,” he told Kumasi-based Light FM.
“This isn’t the time to consider club affiliation of the person, it is about the competence and ability to achieve the set targets,” he stressed.
Dr. Ofori prayed the board of directors to pay the right amount of monies to make the job lucrative enough to attract the best candidates.
“The board of directors should be willing to pay the right kind of money to attract the right kind of personnel to come in and raise the right kind of money for them because if you pay peanuts, you will get monkeys to work for you,”
“I have good relation with Nana Yaw Amponsah. If he is fit for the criteria of Asante Kotoko, he should be given the mandate but if not, then No,” he ended.
