Former Berekum Chelsea and TP Mazembe attacker Solomon Asante was on the scoresheet as Phoenix Rising dispatched El Paso 3-1 in the USL Championship.

Goals from Dardashov, Asante and Flemmings were enough to render Aaron Gomez’s early strike a mere consolation.

El Paso broke the deadlock after just 15 minutes, however a strike from the penalty spot by Dardashov levelled matters for the home side.

Dardashov turned provider for Solomon Asante in the 36th minute when he completed the comeback for Phoenix Rising. His goal was followed by Flemmings strike on the stroke of half time put the results beyond doubt.

The second half was a pale shadow of the goal-laden first half with both teams exchanging goals with a raft of changes as goal scorers Dardashov and Asante were given rest at the tail end of the game.

Asante’s strike was his fourth of the campaign – continuing from where he left off last season. The 30-year-old ball-wizard, who doubles as the captain, Phoenix Rising Football Club was named USL Championship’s Most Valuable Player, last season

By virtue of winning their game against El Paso, Phoenix Rising occupy the second spot with ten points – a point and a game behind group B leaders, San Diego Loyal.
