Kumasi-based Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko are set to witness a massive shake-up in the technical department with coach Maxwell Konadu given the unenviable task of trimming his backroom staff, according to Oyerepa FM.
The technical staff of the 24-time Ghana Premier League champions comprises Maxwell Konadu as head coach with Johnson Smith, Akakpo Patron and Abdulai Gazale as assistants.
Akakpo Patron, a former player of the Porcupines and the senior among the assistants joined the club in 2017 to serve as Steven Pollack’s deputy while Johnson Smith joined the train later on as the club embarked on their CAF Interclub Competitions adventure.
Meanwhile, Gazale was brought in on the recommendation of current gaffer Maxwell Konadu it remains to be seen who among the three will suffer the brunt. According to news from the grapevine, Akakpo Patron might be moved to the yet-to-be-created Kotoko academy owing from his rich vein of experience brewed at West Africa Football Academy.
Since Gazale was brought in by Maxwell Konadu he might receive the nod to stay meaning the experienced former Karela United coach might lose his role at the Fabulous club.
