World football governing body, FIFA has banned Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Ahmad Ahmad for five years over financial misconduct.
According to a statement from FIFA, the Malagasy football administrator has been charged for among many governance issues using CAF money to finance an Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca for 15 African FA presidents.
The ban had been feared for about two months and inadvertently means he cannot stand for re-election as CAF president next year.
