Black Meteors midfielder Majeed Ashimeru capped off an excellent outing for Red Bull Salzburg with an assist as his side trounced St. Polten in a ten-goal feast on Saturday afternoon.
A hat-trick from Szoboszlai and Koita, and a strike from Berisha and Adeyemi rubbished Hugi and Schmidt’s effort as Red Bull Salzburg run out 8-2 winners.
The away side put aside their midweek disappointment against reigning UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich when Adeyemi opened the floodgates after seven minutes.
Six minutes later Szoboszlai doubled the lead of the visitors via the penalty spot which was quickly followed by Adeyemi.
Szoboszlai mustered his personal second and his team’s fourth two minutes later but Hugi managed a consolation two minutes after the half hour mark as the first half ended in favour of the guests.
Salzburg continued from were they left off in the first stanza as Szoboszlai completed his hat-trick after 52 minutes. St. Polten began a mini revival when they got the second to reduce the deficit to three.
But substitute Koita turned on the style as he grabbed a hat-trick in the dying embers of the goal with his third and final goal coming from a Majeed Ashimeru assist.
The win consolidates Salzburg’s position at the summit of the Austria Bundesliga.
Ashimeru, formerly of West Africa Football Academy lasted the entire duration of the game – which he mustered his fourth assist of the season.
