Burkina Faso based Ghanaian defender Polo Nartey is upbeat about the chances of Salitas ahead of the return leg encounter with AshantiGold SC in the CAF Confederations Cup.
The Burkinabe outfit managed a scoreless draw with four-time winners of the Ghana Premier League, Ashgold at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium last Sunday in the preliminary round of the CAF version of the UEFA Europa League.
With the results pegged at 0-0 Salitas will fancy their chances of booking a spot in the next phase of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Sharing his thoughts on how his side managed to shut out the attack of the Miners that have produced four goals in two games in the ongoing Ghana Premier League, Nartey Polo told Kumasi-based media outlet Ashh FM:
“We saw whatever they told us about Ashanti Gold and I will say they are a good side,”
“Our coach told us that if we can hold Ashgold on for the first 15 minutes then they can’t score us and that is what did,” he retorted.
He continued: “I will not say Ashgold is a bad side just because they could not score us, they are a very good side,”
Polo shared his thoughts on the supposed item thrown into the net by an Ashgold player.
“The guy threw that thing into the post but unfortunately, it did not enter the post and I was the first person that saw it so I informed the goalkeeper and he took it and urinate on it,”
According to Nartey Polo three of their best players missed the game and would bolster their squad in the second leg this weekend.
“Our three best players could not make it to this trip so the coach used Academy players and they did very well so I believe strongly that when they come to add up the team at home we will qualify and I will say we have qualified already.”
