ADUANA 2-0 HEARTS: Yahaya Mohammed, Prince Acquah Make Nuisance Of Papic Magic As Hearts Stumble To Defeat

Former Champions Aduana Stars on Wednesday, defeated Accra Hearts of Oak 2-0 in a match day one outstanding game at Nana Agyemang Badu park at Dormaa.

The Ogya lads scored in each half of the game against the Phobians with Yahaya Mohammed and Prince Acquah getting on target.

Aduana Stars were awarded a free kick early in the opening minutes but they failed to make it count.

Umar Manaf made light of the defence of Aduana Stars and sent an exhilarating ball to Patrick Razak to score but the winger failed to bury it as the home side quickly regrouped to clear their lines.

The opening 15 minutes of the game was dominated by Hearts of Oak with left back Raddy Ovouka coming close in the 10th minute but Aduana Stars had goalkeeper Joseph Addo to thank for keeping his sheet clean.

In the 27th minute, Patrick Razak failed to assist Kwadwo Obeng Junior to score as he robbed Hearts off an opportunity.

Charles Gyamfi missed a glorious chance to break the deadlock for Aduana Stars as his effort went off-target.

Minutes before the break, 34-year-old Yahaya Mohammed broke the deadlock following a deflection inside the Hearts goal area as he struck the ball into the right corner of the post for the game’s first goal.

After recess, Prince Acquah scored from 45 yards to increase the lead for the home side in the 47th minute.

Acquah latched onto a poor clearance by the Hearts of Oak and pummelled it straight into the bottom corner for the second goal. Hearts coach Kosta Papic made some changes to his side after conceding the second goal.

Raddy Ovuka missed from the spot as he failed to get a consolation for the Phobians late in the game.

Goalkeeper Joseph Addo calmly saved his kick before and the rebound was kicked over the post by Michelle Sarpong.

The Phobians had another opportunity at goal to reduce the deficit but that chance was once blown away.

The result condemns Hearts of Oak to their second defeat of the season, while Aduana Stars pick their first win of the campaign.
