Professor Peter Twumasi, Director-General of the National Sports Authority has assured Asante Kotoko will return to the Baba Yara Sports stadium this month after renovation works at facility nears completion.
It would be recalled that Asante Kotoko, the most successful outfit in the Ghanaian top flight, had to move from their home venue due to renovation works been embarked by the supervisors of the facility, National Sports Authority.
This has led to the Porcupine Warriors playing their home games at the Accra Sports stadium – which is the home of archenemy Hearts of Oak – and brooded on relocating to Tamale however the Reds will not have to bother their heads about moving to Northern regional capital.
According to Professor Twumasi the renovation works will be wrapped up this month which means Kotoko will return to their spiritual home for the rest of the season.
As it stands now, seats at the stadium have been fixed, flood lights have been installed, while the drainage system have also been completed and the growing of grass will be underway soon.
“Asante kotoko will return to Baba Yara Yara stadium this month [January] because renovation work is progressing steadily with chairs, flood lights and others all installed,” he told Kumasi-based Sikka 89.5 FM.
Meanwhile the Porcupine Warriors, who are trailing by a lone goal, will be playing as guests to Al Hilal Omdurman in the return leg of the CAF Champions League tomorrow.
