Liberty Professionals’ quest to end their winless run in the Ghana Premier League took another great twist on Sunday afternoon after suffering a humiliating defeat to WAFA.
The Sogakope-based club put up a great show at the WAFA park, thumping Liberty by five goals to nil in the fixture.
Goals from Konadu Yiadom, Marvin Owusu, Sampdon Agyapong and Augustine Boakye ensured that the Scientific Soccer Lads were no match for the Academy Boys.
It wasn’t the best of games Seedorf Asante was hoping for. The OKESS graduate was named in the starting lineup for the game as he made his maiden appearance in the league for Liberty.
WAFA opened the scoring in the 51st minute after Yiadom headed in Agyapong’s cross from a set-piece. The defender also went to score the last of the game, powering home another header.
Marwin Owusu, who was also making his debut in the game for WAFA, doubled the home team’s lead 15 minutes after the opener.
It was two in three minutes for Prosper Ogum’s men as Sampson Agyapong finished off neatly after receiving a pass from Augustine Boakye.
Boakye then got his name on the scoresheet minutes later to make it four, having already assisted the third goal.
Liberty’s Paul Kwame was sent off in the 81st minute of the game following his reception of his second yellow card for a foul on an opponent.
The results now moves WAFA to third position on the league table as Liberty move into the relegation zone.
