kumasi Asante Kotoko made their way into the top three teams on the league table of the Ghana Premier League, following their victory over Inter Allies on Wednesday night.
The Porcupine Warriors had to rely on a lone goal from striker Naby Keita to urge out Danijel Mujkanovic’s team at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Allies have been on a poor run of form in recent games, losing their last four prior to this game. They were hoping end that streak with at least a draw but was far from happening.
Kotoko started the game in the brighter note, creating most of the chances in the first-half but they were unable to utilise them.
Emmanuel Gyamfi and Fabio Gama always looked a constant threat to the away team anytime Kotoko surged forward but the Allies goalkeeper was on hand to deal with their efforts.
After the recess, the home side continued to press for the opener and were fortunate to be rewarded with a penalty after Kwame Opoku was fouled in the 18-yard box. Keita stepped forward to convert the spot-kick and put Kotoko into the lead.
Despite the late attempts by Mujkanovic’s team, they left the stadium without a point and now languishing in the 18th position on the league table with just seven points.
