Asante Kotoko on Sunday became just the only team to beat Karela United at their home ground in the 2020/21 season.
The Porcupine Warriors beat the Nzema-based club by two goals, keeping a clean sheet as well at the Crosby Awuah Memorial park.
Kotoko went into the game, unbeaten in all away games they have played this season while Karela had also not at home during that time.
However, left-back Imoro Ibrahim opened the scoring for Kotoko in the 37 minutes, powering home a delicious strike into the bottom corner of the net.
The away side went into the break the better team having dominated possession as well as chances created.
Coach Johnson Smith, formerly of Karela was happy to see his side’s lead doubled following the comeback from recess through striker Kwame Poku, who worked his way out after receiving a pass from captain Emmanuel Gyamfi before adding to his league tally this campaign.
The win takes Kotoko into the top spot, overtaking today’s opponent with a point. Karela on the other hand drop to the second position after today’s loss.
