Former Asante Kotoko forward Kwame Opoku was on the score sheet for USM Algers on his debut in the Algerian Cup 1/8th stage on Saturday evening.

The Red and Blacks recorded a 2-0 home victory over local rivals MC Alger at the Stade Omar Hammadi with the precocious goal hunter on target on his belated debut.

The 22-year-old broke the virginity of the game with a fine strike on the 19th minute to end the first half in a 1-0 victory for his side.

There no further goals until injury time when Zakaria Naidji scored the icing on the cake to kill off any hopes of a comeback by MC Algiers to book a spot in the next stage of the Algerian Cup.

The Ghanaian international who turned 22 years yesterday – May 8 – lasted for 75 minutes in the match before being substituted.

He sealed a four-and-half year deal from Ghana Premier League heavyweights Asante Kotoko to USM Algiers last month but had to wait for his dream debut following delayed paperworks.
