AshantiGold SC midfielder Appiah MacCarthy is set to undergo surgery in the first week of June, prematurely ending his season.
The midfield linchpin suffered an injury on match day 12 of the Ghana Premier League when his side locked horns against Legon Cities and since then he has been missing in action.
He has been slated for June 2 2021 for the surgery and will miss the rest of the ongoing campaign.
This was revealed by club doctor of Ashgold, Dr George Chidi, when he divulged to Kumasi-based radio station Oyerepa FM.
Since his injury, the Miners have struggled for consistency with the inconsistency at the technical department complicating an already complicated situation in Obuasi with the club falling out of the title chase.
Ashgold presently occupy the ninth position – six points adrift top four positions – after winning their last fixture against capital-based side Accra Great Olympics and would hope to continue on that tangent when they lineup against Medeama in what promises to be a titanic affair at the Akoon park on match day 26.
