General Manager of Ghana Premier League outfit Aduana Stars, Takyi Arhin has divulged his side has sued a journalist over allegations of match fixing.
Aduana Stars, two-time winners of the Ghana Premier League, have been accused of playing matches of convenience in the ongoing Ghanaian top-flight and the allegations rifled when the Ogya Lads suffered a narrow loss to struggling Ebusua Dwarfs rendering the Dormaa-based side winless in their last three games.
However reacting to the wild and unguided allegations propagated by some section of the media, the experienced football administrator iterated his outfit have sued a sports presenter based in the Bono regional capital, Sunyani.
“Is never true Aduana Stars is using it matches for betting, treat such news a hoax but we believe is a plan thing by session of the media to defame Aduana Stars,” he told Kumasi-based Adehye 99.1 FM.
He continued: “Aduana Stars is a traditional club and we respect our Supporters and the traditions of the club so the club will never do such thing and aside that FIFA frown against betting in football,”
Takyi Arhin affectionately called Thunder did not disclose the name of the journalist who his outfit summoned to court but was emphatic in the club’s stance against allegations of such kind.
“We Aduana Stars have sued a Sunyani based Presenter accusing the club of using it matches for betting and are warning other presenters to stop making such accusations because we will not take it slightly with those media houses,” Takyi Arhin affectionately called Thunder concluded.
Next up for Aduana Stars is a home fixture against the resurging Liberty Professionals, who defeated West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) in the last round of games.
