Board member of Asante Kotoko Kwadwo Boateng Genfi has intimated his outfit have set their sights of annexing the 2020-2021 Ghana Premier League.
Asante Kotoko, record holders of the Ghanaian top-flight, are tied on points with sworn rivals Hearts of Oak at the summit of the league log and will be looking to usurp the Accra-based giants in the coming weeks as the competition enters its twilight stages.
Since 2015 the Porcupine Warriors have failed to add to their 24 titles and despite starting the league on a slow note, the Kumasi-based heavyweights are huge favorites in what appeared to be a three-horse (Hearts-Medeama-Kotoko) race turned straight fight between themselves and Hearts of Oak and few will bet against coach Mariano Barretto’s charges with just a handful of matches to close the season.
With six games to spare board member of the club, Kwadwo Boateng Genfi contends his side have placed the league title on top of their priority list.
“We want to win the league and will do our best to win. It’s the ambition of the board and will support the management to win,” he told Kumasi-based media house Oyerepa FM.
Up next for the Porcupine Warriors will be a game against relegation-bound Inter Allies, a game the Reds will fancy getting all three points especially with closest rivals Hearts of Oak playing against Medeama in a match which could go either way.
